Joan Marie Anderson, 63, of Norman, OK.
Joan, formerly of Savage, MN, peacefully passed away at her home, surrounded by her adoring family, on March 14th, after a courageous two year battle with cancer. Joan was an amazing mother, wife, grandmother, sister, mother-in-law and friend. She was strong, determined and persevered through many of her life's challenges. She loved to travel and explored the world from Europe to Disneyland, by foot, plane, and RV. She was committed to her siblings, children, grandchildren and all of the children in her life and was whole-heartedly devoted to them. Her children and grandchildren recall her "making all occasions so special" from dressing up in costumes and putting tinsel on the tree after Santa came, to leaving a trail of Easter bunny footprints made out of flour. Joan was a generous volunteer at the schools, reading and using her puppets to tell the story. She spent years assisting the Cub and Boy Scouts as a den mother, pack leader, and heading up the pinewood derby. Joan was meticulous and had an uncanny way of organizing and bringing order to our world. Joan lovingly cared for a variety of pets over the years, including not only cats and dogs, but a very large snake as well. Joan was a great woman, devoted wife, an amazing mother and grandmother, she will be greatly missed. Joan is survived by her loving husband Roger, children Wade(Tamara), Don, Renee(Eric), Daren(Leigh), Derek(Christi) and Grandchildren; Kyle, Natasha, Finn, Christine, Audrey, Charlie and Victoria; Brothers, Jerry, John and Barry; Sister, Bonnie. Joan is preceded in death by her parents Melvin and Mary; eldest son Wyatt A. Whear; sisters Judy and Jenny.
A memorial service will be held on March 26th at 2:00 at the White Funeral chapel 12804 Nicollet Ave So, Burnsville, MN. To leave condolences please visit primrosefuneralservice.com
