Obituary

Joan A. Bond, 75, of Fort Wayne, passed away on Wednesday, January 30, 2013 at Lutheran Hospital. She worked for 33 years at Wildwood Racquet Club and was team tennis coordinator. In 1956 she was crowned as the very first Miss Huntington. She volunteered tirelessly for causes fighting breast cancer, and served on the Vera Bradley Classic steering committee. Surviving are her sons, Jeff Bond of Deltona, Florida and David Bond of Noblesville, Indiana; ½ brother, Jim Smith; and four grandchildren. A funeral service was Tuesday, February 5, 2013 at 1:00 PM at Greenlawn Funeral Home, 6750 Covington Road, Fort Wayne, IN 46804 with visitation one hour prior. Visitation was also held on Monday, February 4, 2013 from 3:00 to 7:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Burial in Greenlawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, preferred memorials may be made to Vera Bradley Foundation for Breast Cancer, P. O. Box 80201, Fort Wayne, IN 46898-0201. Please visit greenlawnmpfh.com to leave condolences.
