Obituary

Joan was born at 105 Havelock Street in Preston, England. She was very proud of her English and Anglican heritage, and with her magnificent accent, delighted in sharing stories of her beloved years in Lancashire County. At wars end, Joan married Joe Motley while he was serving with the 8th Air Force in England. As a war bride, Joan came to America on the Queen Mary, arriving Easter Sunday, 1946. We loved her so, and will miss her laughter, fun-loving spirit, and her memorable stories. Joan was born at 105 Havelock Street in Preston, England. She was very proud of her English and Anglican heritage, and with her magnificent accent, delighted in sharing stories of her beloved years in Lancashire County. At wars end, Joan married Joe Motley while he was serving with the 8th Air Force in England. As a war bride, Joan came to America on the Queen Mary, arriving Easter Sunday, 1946. We loved her so, and will miss her laughter, fun-loving spirit, and her memorable stories.

A Bethany area resident for over 60 years, Joan was a charter member of St. David's Episcopal, later attending the Episcopal Church of the Resurrection, St. Mark's Methodist, and Council Road Baptist.

Joan was preceded in death by her husband, Joe J. Motley, in 1989. She is survived by her three children, Gary and wife Jan, Paul and wife Jana, Pam and husband Bob Kokojan, eight grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren

Services will be Saturday, June 16 at 10am at Bill Merritt Funeral Home, 6201 Northwest 39th Expressway, Bethany, OK. Viewing will be Friday, 8am-8pm. Interment will be at Bethany Cemetery. Officiating will be long-time and dear friend of the family, Reverend Greg Whitlow.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to this organization Joan had been a member of: Celiac Sprue Association, P.O. Box 31700, Omaha, NE 68131-0700.
