Joan V. Thompson, 88, of Parkersburg, passed away February 7, 2017 at her residence.
Joan was born October 27, 1928 in Parkersburg to George Leroy and Hazel {Ball} Wagner.
Joan was a homemaker and loved to garden, she especially enjoyed raising corn and tomatoes. She was an avid reader, liked bowling and fishing and having fish fries for her loving family.
Joan will be deeply missed by her children, Carl (Jerri) Thompson of Harleysville, PA, Gary (Lydia) Thompson of Parkersburg, Joel (Angela) Thompson of Parkersburg, grandchildren, John, Mary (Jeff) Kirkpatrick, Hannah, Esther, Joseph, David, Ruth, Peter, Andrew (Syl) Nguyen, Damaris (Mark) Bernal, Greg, Jolene (Tyson) Swain, great grandchildren, Sinopa, Wanaca, Yana, Stephen, Cornelius, brother, Jimmy (Sandy) Wagner, sister, Judy (Darrell) Lantrip.
Joan was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Glen E. Thompson, Jack Wagner and Jean (David) Grapes.
Visitation will be Friday, February 10, 2017 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home, Parkersburg. Funeral services will be Saturday at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Ruben Cabanillas officiating. Interment will be at Sunset Memory Gardens. Joanne was a no nonsense woman. She helped me many times while I was married to Ira. I remember each of her children but lost contact over the years. I hope you all help each other get through this time of loss.
