Joanne Hess was born on September 15,1939 in Aztec, New Mexico to parents Carl and Mary Goodwin. She passed away May 18,2017 at her home with family members at her side.
Joanne was married 56 years to Richard Hess. She is proceeded in death by daughter Linda Toso. She is survived by Husband Richard Hess, her sons Rick Hess and Brian Hess. Joanne has 5 grandchildren, Michelle Toso, Jared Hess, Danielle Hess, Kolton Hess, Sierra Leavins and great grandson Jayden Hess.
A 1959 graduate of Saint Alfonse Nursing School in Boise, ID. She soon married Richard Hess and relocated to Oregon. In 1968 the young family moved to Tumwater, WA. and she started her career with Saint Peter`s Hospital,then located in West Olympia. Joanne stayed with Saint Peters for the next 33 years before retiring.
In 1976 the now family of 5 moved to Yelm, WA. She was very involved in the family interests and activities such as Sports, camping, Cub Scotts, 4-H clubs, to name a few. Joanne and Richard had the 3 children graduate high school before both retiring and eventually settling in Rochester, WA.
Joanne took great pride in her yard and gardens ,always willing to share her knowledge with others. She continued to do this until she left us May 18th.
Services will be held 10 AM, June 10,2017. At the Mills & Mills Memorial Park in Tumwater with a small gathering at her home in Rochester.
In place of flowers we ask that donations be made to a children`s hospital of your choice.
