Joanne Laubner, formerly of Forty Fort, PA and a long-time Nahant, MA resident, passed March 31st following a journey of 81 years. "Josie" is survived by her loving husband, Paul Laubner, of 59 years and her six children: Karen Borton (Chris), mother of Karl, Sarah and Kate; Paul Laubner; Jeanne Mack (Joe); Gretchen Spitzer (Ian-deceased), mother of Ava, Elsie and Barrett; James Laubner (Stephanie), father of Sophia, Reagan and Sebastian; and Ellen Rondinelli (Carmine), mother of Carmine and Derek. She will be missed greatly by them and her surviving sister, Frances (longtime companion Barney), brother and sister-in-law, John and Robin Davis, brothers-in-law John and Bob Laubner, and sisters-in-law Frances Laubner and Pat Davis.
Born Joanne Davis in 1933 to William and Emily Davis of the Kensington Park neighborhood of Lynn, MA, Joanne is a graduate of Lynn English High School, Simmons College of Boston where she received a Bachelor's Degree in Education, and Salem State College where she received a Master's Degree in Business Administration.
Married in 1955, Paul and Joanne moved to Nahant. After a short career teaching elementary school in Nahant, Joanne worked full time as a dedicated mother raising their six children. Later in life, she kept herself busy pursing higher education degrees, rewarding employment experiences and foreign travel.
Her family and friends remember Joanne as an adventurous, travel loving mother and wife who put family first. She loved having friends and family around her. Many grand memories were made at Josie's table be it at Christmas time, Memorial Day or at her home on Virginia Terrace.
Mother and wife, may you rest in peace in the loving embrace of family that has passed before you: brothers Bill, Bobby and Dick (Elsie), brother in-law George Franklin Field, sister in-law, Margie Davis, brothers-in-law, George and Philip Laubner (Betty), and sister-in-law Mary Laubner. You are and always will be in our prayers and thoughts.
The funeral will be held on Tuesday at 10AM from the Cuffe-McGinn Funeral Home 157 Maple Street, Lynn, followed by a funeral Mass in St. Pius V Church, 215 Maple Street, Lynn at 11AM. Burial in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Lynn. Visiting hours Monday 5-7 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Nahant Historical Society, 41 Valley Road, #101, Nahant, MA 01908.

Dear Gretchen and family, I just wanted to let you know how sorry I am for your loss. Thank God I have not lost my parents yet, but I did recently loose my closest "everything", my grandfather. I do feel your pain and I know how close my mom has always been to all of you.At 24, I have heard lots of "stories", though I am sure edited! But even at my age, I have to say Memorial Day will never be the same! You are a great family, and Gret you have three beautiful, wonderful kids!!!! May you all find peace in all the good times. You are in my thoughts. Tim Morris

Our deepest condolences to the Laubner family. We have fond memories of Joanne, our dear neighbor, who frequently stopped by our garden. She loved to pick the blueberries and she so unselfishly mended the holes in the net so the birds wouldn't find their way in. We will think of her fondly. Cindy & Tom Costin

Mrs Laubner, I will always remember your great smile and the way you said my name ( in you Boston accent ) Maary! You always treated us friends(of Karen) like we were really special , like we were important. Not many adults gave a child or teen that gift .. That gift of feelin like you could actually be important . You were special and you made everyone feel special too! Rest In peace.
