Joanne Dawn of Chenango Bridge, fell asleep peacefully at Wilson Hospital on August 6th after a courageous battle with cancer. Joanne was born on October 23, 1929 in Carbondale, PA. After moving to Binghamton she worked at Woolworths where she met the love of her life Bob Dawn. They married in 1949 and shared the next 52 years together, until Bobs passing in 2001. Joanne is survived by Daughter and Son-in-Law. Sharon(Dawn) and Tom Flanagan, Son and Daughter in law Michael and Kay Dawn, Grandchildren Jonathan and her special love, Skylar, as well as Donald and Amanda and great grandchildren Billy, Jace, and Kaleigh, also sisters & brother-in-law, along with several nieces, nephews and cousins. Joanne is predeceased by her loving husband Bob in 2001, her parents Rexford and Eleanor Chapman, sister and brother in law Mary (Chapman) and John Tyler, brother, Joe Chapman, sister and brother in law Eleanor (Chapman) and Bill Judd, infant brother Edward, Mother in law, Iva Dawn and brother in law, John (Curly) Westfall, sister-in-law & brother-in-law Florence & Ernie Hoag, Joanne was a stay at home mom and her first priority was always her family. She and Bob enjoyed camping with the Tripouters and made many wonderful friends and memories. Their special place was the Thousand Islands where they spent many hours on Bob's boat fishing. Eventually they bought a home in Florida where they spent their winters. After Bob's death Joanne continued to winter there, playing cards and Bingo, creating many friendships, but her favorite pastime was going to the casino. She will be remembered everyday by those who loved her, especially her children. Special thanks to her niece Kathy (Chapman) Kelly and Daughter in law Kay Dawn for the special care they gave her in Florida. A Funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 12, 2017 at 11:00 am at the Wm. R. Chase & son Funeral Home 737 Chenango St. Port Dickinson, NY, burial will follow at Chenango Valley Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to the funeral home on Friday, August 11, 2017 from 5:00-8:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the American Cancer Society 13 Beech St. Johnson City, NY 13790.
