Joanne Lee Allen, born October 17, 1931, passed away peacefully April 8, 2011, in the presence of her loved ones. She was born in Olney, Illinois to Earl and Virginia Gibbons. On February 4th, 1950, she married Richard D Allen. They lived and raised five boys in Garden Grove, CA. She is survived by her five boys, Ron, Larry, Terry, Mike, and Rick. Joanne was blessed with13 grandchildren, 1 deceased, and 4 great grandchildren. Joanne played a vital role in running the family businesses; working in the office helping Dick with Quality Plastering, Oxnard Plastering and JT Allen Construction. Joanne Lee Allen, born October 17, 1931, passed away peacefully April 8,
2011, in the presence of her loved ones. She was born in Olney, Illinois to Earl and Virginia Gibbons. On February 4th, 1950, she married Richard D Allen. They lived and raised five boys in Garden Grove, CA. She is survived by her five boys, Ron, Larry, Terry, Mike, and Rick. Joanne was blessed with13 grandchildren, 1 deceased, and 4 great grandchildren.
Joanne played a vital role in running the family businesses; working in the office helping Dick with Quality Plastering, Oxnard Plastering and JT Allen Construction. The final highlight of her career was serving as the first woman deputy for the state of California Contractor's Board.
Joanne's strong passion and dedication created endless life enjoyments. She loved traveling to warm tropical locations and boating in their beloved 50 ft trawler, "The Endeavor". She loved ceramics, reading, knitting, and watching her favorite sports teams. Most of all she cherished every moment spent with her family in her beautiful homes built with love by her husband and boys.
Visitation will take place Tuesday, April 12, 5:30 until 8:00 P.M. at the Ted Mayr Funeral Home, 3150 Loma Vista Road, Ventura.
Services will be held Wednesday, April 13, 11:00 A.M. also at Ted Mayr Funeral Home. A private graveside ceremony at Rose Hills Cemetery, Whittier, will be held immediately following the service.
