Jodi Allsop Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Nov. 30, 2010.

Jodi Doryce Allsop, 51, passed away unexpectedly in the hospital Thursday, November 25, 2010, of an illness in Ventura, California. She had been a Ventura County resident, on and off for many years, residing here the last five. Jodi lived in Idaho for 10 years, Montana for three years and in San Francisco for six years, however always had a love for the Ventura beaches where she was raised.

Jodi was born on July 25, 1959 in Lynwood, California to Arlene and Eugene Allsop. She was the oldest of four girls. Jodi and her sisters learned to tap dance and they performed as a group called The Four Allsop Sisters. They performed at the Laura Louise School of Dance in Ventura for many years. This impacted Jodi in such a positive way that she taught tap dancing to underprivileged children.

Jodi's other interests included art, camping, swimming, and hiking. She was an amazing artist especially with pen & ink drawings. She had a beautiful smile and warmth she bestowed on all, including her patrons in the restaurant food service business in which she worked and took pride.

Jodi was preceded in death by her father, Eugene Earl Allsop; sister, Terri Jean Allsop; maternal grandfather Clause Vonder Reith; and paternal grandparents Ellis Allsop and Besse Coulter.

She is survived by her daughter Jennifer Portocarrero and granddaughter Jaden Owens of San Francisco; her son, Jason Portocarrero of San Francisco; mother, Arlene D. Allsop of Ventura; maternal grandmother Doryce P. Wilson Vonder Reith of Ventura; sister Kristi Ernenwein (husband Robert) and their children Lauren, Harrison, Nicholas, Carolyn of Palos Verdes; sister Julie Allsop and daughter Haleyof Torrance.

Donations in Jodi's name, made to a cancer research fund of your choice, would be greatly appreciated.

A memorial service will take place at her sister Kristi Ernenwein's residence at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of the Ted Mayr Funeral Home, 3150 Loma Vista Rd., Ventura, CA 93003. Condolences may be left at tedmayrfuneralhome.com

Dear Arlene, Sorry to hear of your daughters passing. Its uncanny how she looks exactly like you. You mention Laura, and its ironic that her husband paaed on the same day. I'm thinking good thoughts for you in your time of sorrow.
