Joe Carlton, 62, of Hackett, went to be with our Loving Father on Tuesday, December 18, 2012. He was born December 9, 1950 in Mansfield, Arkansas. On February 2, 1979 he married Annie Carlton. Joe graduated from Mansfield High School and served a two year tour for the U.S. Navy in Vietnam. Joe also served in the Naval Reserves in the Seabees. He received an associate's degree from WestArk Community College. Joe worked as an electrician at Crane Industries for 16 years and retired from Whirlpool.
Joe was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, playing music and bringing smiles to his family's faces. His calm, consistent and humble approach to all situations will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by his family and friends. Joe gave generously in all ways imaginable and was of the Baptist faith. Be it his time, opinion, effort or help in general; Joe never hesitated to extend himself for his friends and family. He was a rare man and the love and respect that this family has for him cannot begin to be expressed by words alone.
Graveside service will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, December 21, 2012 at Mountain View Cemetery in Hackett under the direction of McConnell Funeral Home of Greenwood. Viewing will be Thursday from 1 – 8 p.m. at the funeral home, where the family will visit with friends from 4 – 6 p.m.
