Joe Bernard Hollingsworth , 86 of Houston, Texas went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, July 20, 2012, after a long 9 year battle with West Nile Virus. Joe was born in Normangee, Tx, January 24, 1926. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 63 years, Billie Sue. His sister Rossie Mae Gilbert, 98. His daughter Pam Diamont and husband Gene, daughter Debbie Smiley and husband Wayne, Son Bernie Hollingsworth and wife Pam, 7 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren. Joe was a member of Chapelwood Methodist and had a strong faith and love for his church. He lived life to the fullest, never met a stranger and was loved by anyone...

His daughter Pam Diamont and husband Gene, daughter Debbie Smiley and husband Wayne, Son Bernie Hollingsworth and wife Pam, 7 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren. Joe was a member of Chapelwood Methodist and had a strong faith and love for his church. He lived life to the fullest, never met a stranger and was loved by anyone he came in contact with. He will be remembered for his robust and outgoing personality, generosity to family and friends and love of life. The greatest joys in his life were his faith, his wife and his family and friends. Joe and Billie loved to travel both international and stateside in their motor home. They took numerous family vacations.
Joe graduated from Stephen F. Austin High School. Joined the US Merchant Marines during WWII, and then attended Kings Point USMMA. Graduated from Univ of Houston with a BS in Mechanical Engineering. He started a sales engineering firm in the air conditioning, heating field, he retired as chairman of the board 1987, the company is now run by his son. He also owned an air conditioning equipment manufacturing co. Joe was a life member of Hou Engr & Scientific Society, Past Director & Life member of ASHRAE, Life Member of the Hou Livestock Show & Rodeo, Past director of U of H School of Business, Director of Comerica Bank. He was a member of Rotary Club of Harrisburg (Houston) with perfect attendance for 35 years and served as District Governor, RI Demo Committee, delegate for Council on Legislation and on the Vocational Service Task Force.
Service July 25, 2012, 11:00 AM, Chapelwood United Methodist Church Sanctuary, 11140 Greenbay, Houston, Tx 77024, with reception in fellowship hall to immediately follow.
Private internment.
