Joean (Taschner) Doherty of Bradenton Florida, formerly of Harvard, Massachusetts, and Newington Connecticut died on Friday, October 19 at her home. She was 65. Ms. Doherty was born and raised in Newington, Connecticut, beloved daughter of Joseph and Jean (maiden name) Taschner. She was a 1969 graduate of Connecticut College for Women where she received a Bachelor of Arts in French. She received Masters Degrees in Spanish and French from Tufts University. Ms. Doherty was born and raised in Newington, Connecticut, beloved daughter of Joseph and Jean (maiden name) Taschner. She was a 1969 graduate of Connecticut College for Women where she received a Bachelor of Arts in French. She received Masters Degrees in Spanish and French from Tufts University.
From 1969 until her retirement in 2003, Ms. Doherty taught French at Acton Boxborough Regional High School where she served as Language Department Chair from 1991 until her retirement. She also served as advisor to the yearbook, stood on several school committees, and was a mentor and advisor to countless students.
Since 2003 she and her husband have been residents of Bradenton, Florida where she was an avid golfer, bridge player, and an active member of the Rosedale Country Club.
Ms. Doherty leaves her beloved husband William, cousins Kerin Bouret and Anthony Taschner, and a host of godchildren and friends who will all miss her good humor, warmth, and generosity of spirit.
Interment by the Palms-Robarts Funeral Home will be private.
