Johanna E. Gerlat, 99 , of Sheboygan went to be with her Lord and Savior Wednesday, September 5, 2012 at Sheboygan Progressive Care Center. Johanna was born in Germany on January 1, 1913, daughter to the late Joseph and Henrietta (Rogge) Zovne. She attended schools in Germany for 7 years and attended first grade in Sheboygan to learn English at the age of 13. On June 30, 1934 she married Victor C. Gerlat. Johanna was born in Germany on January 1, 1913, daughter to the late Joseph and Henrietta (Rogge) Zovne.
She attended schools in Germany for 7 years and attended first grade in Sheboygan to learn English at the age of 13.
On June 30, 1934 she married Victor C. Gerlat. He preceded her in death on January 16, 2002.
Johanna was a member of the Sheboygan Sport Club Auxiliary and served as president as well as treasurer of the St. Mark Auxiliary. She was a member of the St. Mark Choir and she also taught Sunday school and was a member of the Bible class.
Survivors include one son, Richard Gerlat of Amberg, WI; one daughter Barbara (Roger) Scheuren of Sheboyan; seven grandchildren; Richard (Debbie) Gerlat, Lauri (David) Wulff, Steve (Jayne) Scheuren, Don (Mary) Scheuren, Scott (Casey) Scheuren, Cheryl (Rob) Van Zeeland, and Jeff Scheuren; 21 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great-grandchildren and Hank (Marilyn) Kalkopf.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, William Zovne, and a sister, Anna Brauer.
Funeral Services for Johanna will be held at 11:30 a.m. TODAY Friday, September 7, 2012 at St. Mark Lutheran Church, 1019 N. 7th St., Sheboygan. Rev. Joe Cottam will officiate. A time of visitation and support will be held TODAY Friday, September 7, 2012 from 10:30 a.m. until the time of service.
A memorial fund has been established in Johanna's name.
The family of Johanna would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff of St. Nicholas Hospice and the caretakers at the Sheboygan Progressive Care Center.
