It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of John (Jack) Ambrose. Beloved husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather, passed away November 24, 2010. Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife Dot; four children: Patty Monson (Keith), children Kristropher and Mark Knoll; Cheryl Hawryluk (Barry), children Dr. Gregory and Geoffrey Hawryluk; Kelly (Donna), children Sarah, Sydney, and Grant Ambrose; John (Shelley), children Devon (Jade) and Allie Ambrose. He is also survived by five brothers and three sisters. Jack was predeceased by his father, Edmund and mother, Pauline. He was born in Moose Jaw and lived and worked there until he moved to Assiniboia in 1950 to start working at the Assiniboia Bakery. He purchased the bakery in 1950 and worked until 2007 when he went into semi-retirement. He taught each of his children and then grandchildren the same "life lessons" that he learned and practiced each day of his life.
He was involved in many community aspects throughout his life, he was a very strong supporter of junior hockey, member of the Assiniboia Wildlife Association, member of the Elks Club and a member of the Masons. Very community minded and loved the town of Assiniboia.
Jack was very proud of his children and later his grandchildren. The grandchildren lost their hero, mentor and friend with his passing. However, the time and dedication he gave them leaves them with many lasting values and happy memories. The world is a better place because of Jack having been in it. His grandchildren will carry on his legacy of honesty, passion, commitment, caring and love of life. Celebration of Jack's life took place on November 30, 2010 at the Messiah Lutheran Church, Assiniboia, SK. Pastor Robert Langdon officiated. Donations in Memory of Jack may be made to the Diabetes Association (Assiniboia & District Chapter), the Canadian Cancer Society or the Assiniboia Union Hospital (South Country Health Care Foundation). Arrangements entrusted to Ross Funeral Service, Assiniboia, SK.
