It was about 1950 when Jack & I first met. He made lasting impression, outgoing, friendly, enthusiastic, well dressed with boundless energy. He was always on the move with somewhere to go. He was never still or in one place for very long! At the time he was working for a retail store selling appliances. A couple of years later Jack introduced me to Horse Racing. He took me to Landsdowne Race Track. I was a novice, so he explained the procedure and taught me some of his methods. With all of this education it was apparent Jack was more successful at picking winners! In order for him to make a choice he used the interval between races to find quiet place where he could sit still & concentrate. He would remain in that spot as long as he could, busily digesting all the data available, making numerous calculations. This meant comparing past races, track conditions, weather & many other factors before arriving at his selection. Minutes before bets closed he would make a dash in order to place his bet. This exercise was repeated with all the races Jack decided to wager. As mentioned, Jack was more successful picking winners than myself, the only time I was successful was when i followed his choice! Also it was the only time Jack remained in one place quiet & still for any length of time! Fondly Joe Carter.

We were not as lucky to know Jack as well as many others - we met him at Sunday dancing at Century House when he and Kathy started dancing there. He was a kind and thoughtful man, with never a bad word to say about about anyone, always positive, great sense of humour....always a gentleman in every sense of the word. We invited Jack and Kathy over for a visit 2 Christmases ago, and had a wonderful afternoon of laughter and fun...we will miss seeing him every Sunday. Our thoughts and prayers go to those who knew and loved him. Condolances especially to his family and "Kitty".
