John (Jack) Jacob Zollinger, III, passed away on Thursday, February 25, 2010 at the age of 72. Survived by his beloved wife of 43 years, Alida (Lee) Gorman Zollinger, three children, John J. Zollinger, IV husband of Christina Zollinger, Hilary Zollinger Huck wife of Lloyd Huck, and Alida Zollinger Olson wife of John Olson, a sister, Esther Z. Hall, three brothers, William D., Robert W. and Karl D. Zollinger and 8 grandchildren. John was preceded in death by his parents, Esther Hall Zollinger and John J. Zollinger, Jr., and a brother, Philip Zollinger. John was a native of New Orleans, a graduate of Jesuit High School ('54) and Loyola...
John (Jack) Jacob Zollinger, III, passed away on Thursday, February 25, 2010 at the age of 72. Survived by his beloved wife of 43 years, Alida (Lee) Gorman Zollinger, three children, John J. Zollinger, IV husband of Christina Zollinger, Hilary Zollinger Huck wife of Lloyd Huck, and Alida Zollinger Olson wife of John Olson, a sister, Esther Z. Hall, three brothers, William D., Robert W. and Karl D. Zollinger and 8 grandchildren. John was preceded in death by his parents, Esther Hall Zollinger and John J. Zollinger, Jr., and a brother, Philip Zollinger. John was a native of New Orleans, a graduate of Jesuit High School ('54) and Loyola University ('58). After graduation, he served in the U. S. Army. He began his investment career in 1960 in Chicago, five years later he returned home to work for the family business, Scharff & Jones, Inc., which later sold to Morgan Keegan in 1990. Jack remained with Morgan Keegan until his retirement in 2007. He was a 33rd Degree Mason in the Scottish Rite. At the time of his death, he was on the Boards of the Scottish Rite Foundation, Bethany and Covenant Nursing Homes, and the President of First Trinity Evangelical Church. Over his lifetime, he was affiliated with Louisiana Lodge #102 F&AM, Lee E. Thomas Lodge #421 F&AM, Germania Lodge #46 F&AM, Union Lodge #172, F&AM, New Orleans Scottish Rite, The Royal Order of Scotland, The Royal Society of St. George, Louisiana Council #2, Indivisible Friends Commandery #1, St. Paul Conclave Red Cross of Constantine, Jerusalem Temple A.A.O.N.M.S., Court #36 Royal Order of Jesters, Kachina Billiken Klub, National Sojourners, Metairie Country Club, World Trade Center of New Orleans, and Sigma Alpha Kappa Fraternity.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Memorial Funeral Services at Jacob Schoen and Son Funeral Home, 3827 Canal Street, New Orleans on Monday, March 1, 2010 at 1:00 P.M. with visitation at the funeral home beginning at 11:00 A.M. Private interment will follow in Metairie Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Jack to Jesuit High School, 4133 Banks Street, New Orleans, LA 70119 or Blessed Francis X.
