John (Jay) Alvin Burgio of Congers, NY, passed on June 10, 2017after a long illness, born April 30, 1942 in Long Island City to Elizabeth Barton Burgio and William Burgio, he is survived by his wife, Suzanne Moreno Burgio, sons Donald of Dallas, TX and Andrew and his wife, Jackie of Phoenix, AZ, sister Geraldine (Sue) Savino, , nephews: Chris, Larry, wife Natalie and son Nicholas, and Doug Burgio, Bill Savino, and nieces Lynn Savino and Dona Savino, Liz and Dave Insull, Jessica and Keith Covey. and Dave and Beth Insull, pre deceased by brothers, William and wife, Dolores Burgio, Charles (Tee) and wife, Maggie Burgio, and sister Elizabeth (Sissy) and husband, George Hanson. IN-laws; Bill & Cindy Moreno, Dave & Michelle, Lily & Julia, Vinny & Jamie, Skylar, Tristan, Remie, & Quinn, Rob & Valerie Moreno, Kristie, Mike, Luc & Faith, Tom & Emilia Moreno

Jay move to Congers from The Bronx in the 50s, worked for Clarkstown Highway Department for 33 years as Senior Heavy Equipment Engineer and trainer, retiring in 2001.

Jay enjoyed collecting old coins, playing cards with friends, 50's, 60's and 70's music, playing beer league baseball, and classic muscle cars, winning trophies for his '72 GTO, '69 Firebirds, and others.

Family will receive friends on Tuesday, 6/13/17 from 2-4 and 7-9pm. A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday at 7:30pm at Michael J Higgins Funeral Home , 113 Lake RD East, Congers, NY.
