John Edward Baxley, age 78 of Allendale, IL passed from this life to the next on Tuesday, October 13, 2015 at Wabash General Hospital, Mt. Carmel, IL.
John Ed was born on September 11, 1937 in Mt. Carmel, IL to Bertha (Enlow) And John O. Baxley.
He married Nola Flatt and they later parted ways. John Ed married Hilda Doran on May 27, 1969 in Vincennes, IN. Hilda preceded him in death on February 4, 2011.
John Ed was a US Army Veteran who was stationed in Germany during WWII.
He was also a hard- working man who labored at many different jobs to provide for his family, including being an ironworker, oilfield driller and truck driver. He was best known, however as a fisherman.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, three sons: Thomas Lee, Robert and Charles Patrick, and one sister, Rosalee.
John Ed is survived by two daughters: Angie Baxley and Cathy Ann Baxley of Irving, TX, four sons: John N. (Dee) Baxley of Allendale, IL, James (Mary) Baxley of Kauffman, TX, John A. (Dawn) Baxley of Allendale, IL, Rick (Angie) Baxley of St. Francisville, IL, one sister, Lola (Dick) Bertrum of Mt. Carmel, IL, 15 grandchildren, several great grandchildren and a special friend, Wanda Harms.
Visitation will be held from 11AM to 1PM on Saturday, October 17, 2015 at Ingram Funeral Home in Allendale, IL. Funeral service will be at 1PM at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery, Mt. Carmel, IL with military rites at the graveside.
Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or Illinois Department of Natural Resources.
John Ed loved wearing bib overalls. All of his family and friends are encouraged to dress casually for the visitation and funeral to honor his memory.
