JOHN FABER Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Sep. 11, 2017.

John Henry Faber, Jr., age 73, of Northport, Alabama, died peacefully at home Sunday, September 10, 2017. A graveside service will be held Friday, September 15, 2017 at 11 a.m. in Memory Hill Gardens Cemetery with Reverend Dr. Neil McCarter officiating and Memory Chapel Funeral Home, a Dignity Memorial Provider, directing. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
John (Johnny) was preceded in death by his father, John Henry Faber Sr., mother, Sara Thomson Faber White, and step-father, Harold David White. He was also preceded in death by his uncle, James Addison Thomson Jr., and aunt, Elizabeth Hinton Holman Thomson.
John is survived by his sister, Marlene Faber Pang, of Northport, Alabama, and nephew, Nicholas Kawika Pang (Connie Du), of San Jose, California.
John was born December 12, 1943 in Birmingham, Alabama. He graduated from Tuscaloosa High School in 1963. John also received an Associate degree from Shelton State Community College in 1980.
He was an inspiration to everyone who met him. John was born with spina bifida and unable to walk since birth. He was most proud of the time he spent at Lakeshore Rehabilitation Facility in 1984 where he made many new friends with disabilities. John was an avid sports fan, especially, Alabama Football, and a food connoisseur.
When his sister asked John why he did not have one single wrinkle on his face, he replied, "I never got married."
We acknowledge with much gratitude all the wonderful people who took care of him, especially, Floyd Sealy, Wanda Howard, Dr. Debra Davis, the staff at DCH Home Health Care and Hospice of West Alabama. It is with great love and affection that we thank Jeff Blair, a special member of the family, who was John's caregiver and best friend for the past 8 years.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made to DCH Regional Medical Center or Hospice of West Alabama.

John was in my class of 1963 at THS and I remember him as a smart, kind, thoughtful person who didn't let his being unable to walk interfere with being involved in the activities of his class and living his life to the fullest.
My sincerest condolences to his family and friends. I know he is now disease free and blessed to be walking in the presence of Our Heavenly Father!
