John Minter Obituary

Mr. John Rodgers Minter, age 80, of McDonough, Georgia passed away on October 13, 2016. John was born in McDonough to the late Robert Lafayette and Helen Rodgers Minter. Mr. Minter grew up in McDonough and was a graduate of McDonough High School. John received a Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology and a Master’s degree in Business Administration from Georgia College. He honorably served our country in the United States Army Reserves attaining the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. He completed the Command and General Staff Course at Ft. Leavenworth, KS and later instructed the same. John was employed in Civil Service by the US Air Force in the Air Logistics Command and served at Robins Air Force Base, GA and Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, OH as an Engineer. He was a member and deacon of First Baptist McDonough. Mr. Minter treasured time spent with all of his family, especially his grandchildren. He will be greatly missed.





John leaves behind his loving wife of 53 years, Susie Gatliff Minter of McDonough, GA; son, Keith Minter (Shirley) of Fayetteville, GA; daughter, Kristi Jent (Steve) of Madison, MS; and grandchildren: Lindsay Moss (Jamie); Robert, Danielle, and Seth Minter; Andrew, Sarah, and Joshua Jent; an Aunt: Virginia Rodgers Fall. He also leaves behind several extended family members and friends.





A service to honor John’s life will be held on Sunday, October 16, 2016 at 3:00 PM in the Chapel of Haisten Funeral Home with Dr. Charles Thomas and Rev. Tom Bergman officiating. The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 3:00 PM prior to the service. Interment with military honors will follow the service at Eastlawn Memorial Park in McDonough.
