John Wayne Owens, 72, of Greenwood, Arkansas passed away Saturday, January 6, 2018 in Van Buren, Arkansas. He was a retired truck driver for Walmart and member of the Jenny Lind First Baptist Church. John was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Owens and parents, Dennis and Janav Owens.
A family led memorial service will be held 1 p.m., Saturday, January 13 at Jenny Lind First Baptist Church. Cremation is under the direction of McConnell Funeral Home of Greenwood, Arkansas.
He is survived by two daughters, Angela Barnett and husband, Wayne of Fort Smith and Tina Tomlin and husband, Dennis of Greenwood; two sisters, Adgelene Sommer of Lavaca and Alyene Talkington Hunter and husband, D.O. of Roland and eight grandchildren, Kevin, Christopher, Aaron and Tyler Davis and D.J., Daniel, Caleb and Sarah Kuykendall.

John was a family man that loved his family and friends. I went to school with his 2 daughters and got to meet him through them. He is going to be missed by a lot but not forgotten . Rest in Peace, John.

I trucked with John back in the 70's. He was a good truck driver and a hard worker. He also was a good friend and once referred me for a job. The industry could use more good people like John.
