Ssgt John H. Anderson, 73, of Raleigh, suddenly entered into eternal rest Monday, June 4. He joins his wife, Clarita Ann in glory with the Lord, who predeceased him on Nov. 15, 1986.
He was the proud father of son John Olof, also of Raleigh, and daughter, Mary Rita, of Branson, Mo. He was the even more proud grandfather of Sara Clare, 15, and Ashley, 18. John absolutely adored his granddaughters and loved the two of them more than life itself.
Ssgt Anderson spent his entire adult life in service to others, giving more than three decades each to civilian law enforcement, and to the U.S. Military, proudly serving in all branches of the military except for the Marine Corps. As a law enforcement officer, he happily patrolled the Broad Causeway and Kane Concourse, protecting the residents of Bay Harbor Islands for more than 15 years, as well as the residents of Dade County (FL), Oakland Park and Miami Shores.
In the U.S. military, Ssgt. Anderson served as a recruiter, port security officer, intelligence officer, security police officer with the 31st SPS at Homestead AFB (FL), and flight crew member with the 79th AEWCS, also out of Homestead AFB.
He will be sorely missed by his son, daughter, and his two adoring granddaughters, who all loved him more than words can describe. We will miss you always dad, and "pop pops", but know that you will be in our hearts forever.
The funeral mass will be held at 1:00 pm on Friday June 8, 2012, at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 11401 Leesville Road, Raleigh NC. Inurnment with Military Honors in the church columbarium. A Reception will follow at Mitchell Funeral Home, 7209 Glenwood Avenue, Raleigh NC.

Happy Birthday Daddy!!!!! I miss you so much each and every day but most especially on this, your special day!!! My heart continues to break knowing that my phone will never ring again and have it be "Grandpaaaaaaaaa"(as your precious Ashley called you) on the other end of the line calling to see how "his girls" are doing!!! I hope you're having a wonderful celebration with Mom, God and all of His Angels today!!!! I love and miss you dearly--always!!!

Mr. Anderson, for over thirty years you've been more than my best friend's dad you've been part of my family. I'll never forget when you use to take us to the movies in Bal Harbor, and Mary would drown the popcorn in salt. You will truly be missed.

John, Mary and Family,
I was very sad to hear about the sudden passing of your Dad, Good ol' Mr. Anderson. I remember carpooling on our way to Annunciation and he would take that side road on county line, and I would always say, "Gee, Mr. Anderson it feels like we are in an airplane". He would always chuckle at that.
Your parents are now together for all of eternity.
May God Bless you all, and provide healing and comfort during this difficult time. You are in my prayers, and thought of with such fond memories of friendship.
