John, We love you and we miss you! It was my honor to get the chance to have you in our lives and thank you for taking such good care of Tami and all the children and grandchildren. I could not have asked for a better brother-in-law and such a great addition to our family.

Tami, I am so sorry for your loss. No more pain or suffering for John, only wrapped in Gods arms and reaping all that he sowed with his way too short time on earth.

Mentor, teacher, leader, Chief, SGT, husband, dad, friend, smart, forward, patriotic, dedicated, visionary. The list could go on-and-on to describe John. At the end of the day, this man was a gift from God. Since, Feb 1987, you have mentored me, advised me on career issues. Told me what was best, and let me knew it, when I wasn't at my best. You spent time coaching me up for interviews, taking my son hunting with you. You made me laugh. You could articulate goals for me for self improvement. Sometimes I didn't listen, but I knew I should have. I could always count on a honest answer, weather it was what I wanted to hear, was irrelevant. Cordial, tactful and yet firm. That's what made you so great John. Your the reason I'm writing this from Fort Sam Houston, TX. When the announcement came out for the position at Fort Sam, you said, "Billy you need to get on this." Once again you were right and I'm on it my friend! Its not what you knew John, it was and will always be, how much you cared. I'm so glad I served with you. I will miss you forever John. Thank you for everything! Rest in Peace John. WE love you forever. GOD bless your family.

I had the great pleasure of not only knowing this great man but also deploying with him as well. His personality and humor stood out above the rest and helped me get through that year. He not only represents what it means to be a solider but a leader as well. Chief, as you may be gone you are definitely not forgotten. Your words and jokes will always be on my mind. Godspeed Chief!

John was a good man that worked so hard to do good for the Soldiers and Families of the Nebraska National Guard. His good work will out shine the suffering we all have felt and will feel.
