He is survived by his three children, Cathy Reyes of Roseville, CA, Scott Baker of Shingle Springs, CA, and Todd Baker of Brimfield, IL. The youngest of six brothers and sisters, John faced adversity growing up when his mother passed at the young age of 7. He went on to lead a very successful life providing for his loving wife and children. John served in the Air Force as a surveillance camera specialist in the Korean War. Upon returning, he married his high school crush Mary and they moved to Citrus Heights to work at McDonnell Douglas and later the Sacramento Army Depot, where he retired after 42 years of service.

John and Mary built the home of their dreams in Shingle Springs in 1963, where they continued to live until their passing. A true craftsman, he possessed tremendous talent for building and fixing anything and will be missed by many for his abilities and insights. From his cars to hand-made tractor, backhoe, and furniture for the home, John had a passion for engineering and working with his hands until shortly before his death.

Services will be held at Chapel of the Pines in Placerville, CA on the 18th of October at 10am. A visitation will commence at 9am. Donations can be made in John's honor to the . Online condolences may be posted at www.chapelofthepinesfunerals.com.
