John proudly served in the United State Army as a Fourth Grade Technician in the 37th Infantry Regiment stationed in Fort Benning, Georgia. While serving, John was awarded a World War II Victory Medal. After his rotation in the Army, John started his career with Sun Oil Company and there he remained and retired after 39 loyal years of service. Some of John's favorite pastimes included outdoor activities like hunting and fishing, dancing, and cooking just as much as he enjoyed eating. John was especially proud of his Louisiana culture and held a deep love for everything Cajun. His family also remembered that his favorite place outside his home state was in the Colorado Rockies. Most importantly, every grandchild of John's was his 'Favorite'.
The family requests that visitation take place Saturday, October 26, 2013 from 9am until time of services at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Morgan City. A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Saturday at 11am at Holy Cross Catholic Church with Monsignor Courville officiating. John will be laid to rest in the Morgan City Cemetery.
The family would like to express their deep gratitude to his caregivers, Dr. Francis Metz III and Dr. Natalie Dishman; his granddaughter-in-law, Heather Saunders Wade PAC; the Staff at both, Teche Regional Medical Center and Patterson Health Care Center; and longtime friend and brother-in-law, Jerry Theriot.
