On behalf of the United States Submarine Veterans (USSVI), we offer our sincere condolences to Emily and all of CAPT Beaver's family and friends as you mourn his passing. May God whisper peace into your hearts, comfort, and heal them. We are grateful for Jack's service to our country in the U.S. Submarine Service during the Cold War. Jack was Commanding Officer of the USS Tang SS-563. To our “Brother of the Dolphin” we say … "Sailor, rest your oar. We have the watch. May you rest in peace and may God bless your loved ones who remain. Thank you for your service to our country."

I am sorry for your loss, I had great respect for him as my second Captain on the Tang. I called them the animal years, Captain Bull when I first went out on the Tang in 66 and then Captain Beaver. He wrote a letter of accommodation in my records for my ability to get good movies for the crew.

Dear Emily and Family, Please accept my condolences on your loss. Jack was my CO on Tang when I reported in October, 1967. I was looking forward to serving with him but was transferred to Gudgeon several months later to replace a medically discharged officer.
Rest your oar Skipper, we have the watch.
