To Every Thing There Is A Season, And A Time To Every Purpose Under Heaven:
A time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted;
A time to kill and a time to heal; a time to break down and a time to build up;
A time to weep, and a time laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance;
A time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together;
A time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing;
A time to get, and time to lose; a time to keep, and a time to cast away;
A time to rend, and a time to sew; a time to keep silence, and time to speak;
A time to love, and a time to hate; a time of war, and a time of peace.

I was so sorry to hear of the passing of a good friend. He was a wonderful friend. He was a great man. I share in your grief at our sad loss.
I will never forget all that he did for me and my son when my son worked hours on his golf game - lonely hours as a son of a new member of a golf club. From teaching with comforting words, to performing golf etiquette, to walking around the course, to retrieving shag balls and putts, he was a godsend, a friend. I never found a better teacher for golf...and life. Golf cannot be the same without Dick.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to Judy and their family. Dick was a stalwart at Morningside, always with a smile and would kindly offer golf tips from his vast repertoire of golf knowledge. He was always a gentleman and the best dancer in the club. He will be greatly missed.

Judy, your Dick was the most warmly welcoming man. Clint and I were charmed by his grace, class, and civility. He made our experience at Morningside even more wonderful. We feel blessed to have known him and you. Our thoughts and prayers go to you and your family.

My thoughts and prayers are conveyed to Judy, his immediate family on Dick's untimely passing. In ones lifetime one is blessed to meet and have the pleasure of associating with special people, Dick was one of those persons.
I had the pleasure of meeting Dick about 22 years ago, almost by accident. My home Club Royal Colwood Golf Club was hosting the Canadian Senior Men's Golf Championship, Dick had entered and wished to play a practice round. Arrangements were made, however Mother Nature did not cooperate. The area was deluged with a typical Pacific Northwest downpour, it was relentless but nonetheless Dick wished to play. Donning rain gear we teed it up and proceeded to play. Needless to say after a few holes we were completely soaked and frustrated but Dick insisted we play at least 9 holes.
From this soggy day a friendship was established and thankfully it has endured. A true gentleman with a wicked sense of humor, fierce competitor and love for golf, I will miss our annual golf dates at Morningside GC and friendly banter after the game. One other matter I wish to mention, several years ago my wife and I spent a few days in Portland, Dick invited Susan, Rick Keating and myself to view his golf memorabilia collection. Words can not describe the vastness of what Dick and Judy have amassed, it is truly breathtaking.
When my time comes I truly hope there is a golf course, preferably a links course in heaven and perhaps Dick, Tag and Bob Atkinson and I can reunite for another game.
Rest in peace my friend, you will be missed.

Dick was very special to so many of us. I was always concerned about wearing out my welcome when I asked if I might bring friends to see his golf memorabilia collection. He never declined and always hosted the event as if it was the first time anyone had seen it. I'll miss playing with him and his dogs, even if he could only get out for a couple of holes. I'll remember his as a great gentleman, a credit to the game, an invincible spirit and a good friend.

I was honored to have known Dick Estey. I met him in a match we played in the Portland City Championship, and had the pleasure of having lunch w him after our match. He was one of the classiest gentleman I ever had the privilege of meeting in all my years playing golf. He invited myself and a friend to play a practice round for the US Amateur qualifier at Waverley afterwards, allowing me to get to know more about his business and golf careers. Wished I had seen him more recently, as I will remember him as the consummate gentleman that he was. I offer his family and friends my condolences.
