John David Hansen, loving husband, father and grandfather died 13 July 2014 after valiantly battling abdominal cancer; he passed away peacefully at his Colorado Springs home surrounded by his family. John was born in Richfield, Utah on 11 November 1952 to Elbert Dewane Hansen and Donna Spafford Hansen. He received his undergraduate and graduate degrees in Electrical Engineering from Brigham Young University. John honorably served a full-time proselyting mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Great Lakes region. John David Hansen, loving husband, father and grandfather died 13 July 2014 after valiantly battling abdominal cancer; he passed away peacefully at his Colorado Springs home surrounded by his family.

John was born in Richfield, Utah on 11 November 1952 to Elbert Dewane Hansen and Donna Spafford Hansen. He received his undergraduate and graduate degrees in Electrical Engineering from Brigham Young University. John honorably served a full-time proselyting mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Great Lakes region. John married his sweetheart, Willa Jean Fairbank, in the Manti Temple, and has considered himself blessed beyond measure for the last 35 years.

John volunteered for UNESCO in Romania prior to excelling at Hewlett Packard/Agilent Technologies, as an Engineer Scientist, in Colorado Springs until his retirement. He also ran a consulting business, The Wandering Mind.

John was a member of IEEE, holds multiple patents, served in his community and in his church, especially as a Bishop and a teacher. John will be remembered for his inexhaustible service to those in need and for his brilliant mind.

In addition to Willa, John leaves behind his four children: Nathanael and wife Kim, Carl and Emily of Colorado Springs, Colorado, and Allison and husband Nathan Howe of Ft. Morgan, Colorado. Eight grandchildren: Brandon Hansen, Zoey Hansen, Ryan Hansen, Zachary Hansen, Max Hansen, Phineas Howe, Elijah Howe and Adele Howe. John is also survived by his mother Donna Spafford Hansen of Richfield, Utah, brother James of Las Vegas, Nevada, sisters Emalee of Monroe, Utah, Sue Ann of Murray, Utah, Donna Louese of Boulder, Colorado, and Mary Carole of Bountiful, Utah and many nieces and nephews.

John's Viewing will be held Saturday, 19 July 2014 at 9:30am at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints building at 8710 Lexington Dr, with the Memorial Service starting at 11am. His family would love to capture the many memories and stories that John's friends and family have; please share them in writing/audio/video at the Viewing or to johnhansenmemories@gmail.com.
