John Edgar Hildenbrand, age 84, of Hammond, IN passed away Tuesday, October 29, 2013. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Phyllis "Patty" (nee Osha); four children: J.D. Hildenbrand, Nancee (Don) Noojin, Randy (Debbie) Hildenbrand and Michelle (Larry) Moore; five grandchildren: Bradlee (Kelly) Hildenbrand, Breanne (Terrance) Bryant, Amanda (Ryan) Azbill, Andrew Hildenbrand and Devin Moore; three great grandchildren: Landon, Lilyrayn and Gavin; two sisters: Esther (George) Lang and Effie Birch; and numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. Hildenbrand was preceded in death by his parents: Dewey and Gladys Hildenbrand; and great grandson, Atlas Azbill. Funeral services will be held Monday, November 4, 2013 at 11:30 a.m. at Kuiper Funeral Home, 9039 Kleinman Road (two blocks south of Ridge Road) Highland, IN with John Brewer Minister officiating. Interment will follow at Calumet Park Cemetery, Merrillville, IN. Friends are invited to meet with the family Sunday, November 3, 2013 from 4:00-8:00 p.m. at Kuiper Funeral Home. Mr. Hildenbrand was a member of the Church of Christ and a veteran of the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He enjoyed camping, animals and western movies.
