John Harry Kauffman passed away peacefully Sunday afternoon at his home in Atlanta with his family by his side after a long illness.  He was born in Wooster, Ohio.  After graduating from Ohio State University in 1960, he joined his father in business becoming President of Kauffman Tire, Inc. in 1969.  In 1975, John moved the headquarters to Atlanta, Georgia.  What started as Harry Kauffman’s Texaco Station in 1936 by John’s mother and father, Kauffman Tire has now become an organization consisting of 53 retail stores, 14 distribution centers, 4 retail/ commercial centers, one retreading facility, and an e-commerce company spread over seven states.  He was proud of the fact that Kauffman Tire just celebrated  their 75th year as a family owned business and that they are a third generation family company.  John was passionate about giving back to the community, and was involved in many organizations over the years including the advisory committee of the President’s Club at Ohio State University and  the advisory committee of the College of Arts & Sciences at Ohio State University.  He was on the advisory board of WINSHIP Cancer Institute, as well as the advisory board of Action Ministries.  John also served on the board of Junior Achievement of Atlanta.  John was actively involved with his church, Peachtree Road Methodist in Atlanta, serving on various boards and committees in the church.  John loved his family and enjoyed spending moments with them whenever he could.  He is survived by his wife Brenda, son Mark Kauffman, daughter Wendy Money, daughter Megan LeBlanc, daughter Krista Slade, stepdaughter Brandi Benson, and eight grandchildren.  He is also survived by two sisters, Virginia Fath and Jane Laubach.  Memorial services will be held Friday November 8, 2013 at 11am at Peachtree Road United Methodist Church in Atlanta, 3180 Peachtree Road N.E. JOHN HARRY KAUFFMAN

November 1, 1938 – November 3, 2013

Atlanta, GA 30305.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in John’s honor to the WINSHIP Cancer Institute, https://winshipcancer.emory.edu/

To Mark, Tom and the Kauffman family

My sympathy for your loss, John was a special person with visionary blessings as he championed the name of Kauffman Tire to become a true "brand".in the markets you competed. A brand that stood for John's principles as a great person and businessman. Many years ago, when those of us in the business needed a farm tire, any size or type, there was only ONE name that came up, time and time again, that name was John Kauffman in Wooster Ohio!
