When I stepped out of my car at the cemetery for my Dad's funeral this past summer, Johnny was standing there with open arms. Oh, how glad I was to see him and get the biggest, most sincere hug from him. He had such an old soul even when he was 17 years old and there was never a more gentle giant in this world. I know he is in a world now that is rejoicing but he will be greatly missed here. I was lucky to have known him and to have shared so many wonderful years at CHS, UT & the Y. Love you Charlie & Mrs. Staggs, you're both in my thoughts & prayers.

I had met John only a short time ago when he was most recently in the Detroit area. My dad was on the board of the Wayne-Westland YMCA where John served, and he always spoke very highly of him. I know that he and my dad worked very well together, and he was certainly a blessing in my dad's life. I am grateful for the role he played here in Michigan, and am saddened by your loss.
