MONRO, John "Wayne"
(Retired 43 year employee of General Motors)
Passed away peacefully at Lakeridge Health – Oshawa on December 1st, 2012, at the age of 68. Loving husband of Marilyn. Beloved father of Kelly Bernard (Reg) and Kim Allen (Ron). Cherished grandfather to Cameron Allen and Elise Bernard. Son of the late Bruce and Kathleen Monro. Survived by his brother Rick Monro (Lou-Ann) and his sister Janet Kirby (Paul). Predeceased by one brother and four sisters. He will be remembered by extended family and friends. The family would like to thank the staff on the 6th and 4th floor at Lakeridge Health-Oshawa for all of their care and support. Visitation will be held at OSHAWA FUNERAL HOME, 847 King Street West (905-721-1234) on Friday, December 7th, 2012 from 2 – 4 and 7 – 9 p.m. Memorial Service will be held in the Chapel on Saturday, December 8th, at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the R.S. McLaughlin Cancer Centre.

Very sorry to hear of Wayne's passing yesterday. I was just asking a mutual acquantance about Wayne the day before! He had not seen Wayne for a while, and obviously did not know of his illness either. They were both truck drivers at GM in the later years. I first met Wayne in 62' when I worked with him on the old cushion line. One of the best fellas to work alongside of. Big guy, but would never hurt a flea. Great sense of humour. I never forgot him, and never will. My condolances to his wife Marilyn, and their family.
