JOHN RAYMOND REEDER
John Raymond Reeder, 89, passed away May 1, 2015, surrounded by loving family and compassionate nurses at the Missouri Veteran’s Home, in Warrensburg, MO.
Visitation will be 11:00am, Saturday, May 9, 2015, with funeral service to follow at 12Noon at Floral Hills. Interment immediately after.
He was born in Butler, MO, and resided in Harrisonville, MO. In 1954, the family moved to Raytown, where John and Virginia were founding members of One Spirit UMC.
John was a Veteran of WWII serving in the Asiatic and Pacific Theater. He was honorably discharged on March 30, 1946.
He and Virginia were avid campers. Upon retirement from Southwestern Bell, he participated with several Telephone Pioneer groups.
As ‘Tuxedo John’, he volunteered with a Pioneer clown group at area hospitals, community circuses, parades and family birthday parties.
John reached the rank of Sacem Little Bob Tail Pony in the tribe of Mic-O-Say, Eagle Scout and active troop leader of Troop 341 Raytown, MO.
John was preceded in death just 15 days ago by his wife of 67 years, Virginia. The family sincerely believes they are reunited, dancing together with their souls intertwined. He was also preceded in death by his parents; and his grandson, Paul.
Survivors include: children and their spouses: John E & Jody and Suzanne and Donald Hellstern; grandchildren: Jennifer, Deborah, Scott and Jonathan (Julie); great granddaughters: Rebecca, Anna and Chloe; and many loving extended family members.
