JOHN IRVINE RITCHIE 1949 - 2013 John Ritchie of Sproat Lake, Port Alberni, BC died on Friday, September 6th, 2013. He was predeceased by his parents Nellie and Irv Ritchie of Victoria and is survived by his older brother Ron (Beth), nephew Ian (Anne) and great-nephew Taylen and niece Kirsten (Steve). John was born in Halifax, NS and moved with his Naval officer father's postings to Ottawa and finally Victoria. He attended Oak Bay High School then the University of Victoria majoring in Sciences. John Ritchie of Sproat Lake, Port Alberni, BC died on Friday, September 6th, 2013. He was predeceased by his parents Nellie and Irv Ritchie of Victoria and is survived by his older brother Ron (Beth), nephew Ian (Anne) and great-nephew Taylen and niece Kirsten (Steve). John was born in Halifax, NS and moved with his Naval officer father's postings to Ottawa and finally Victoria. He attended Oak Bay High School then the University of Victoria majoring in Sciences. John then joined the teaching profession and taught at both the elementary and secondary levels. He began his career in 1972 in Lillooet, BC then moved to the Alberni Valley in 1974. He taught at Mount Klitsa and ADSS then moved to the elementary level and taught at Gil, Alberni and Eighth Avenue Elementary Schools. John retired in June of 2006 and continued to enjoy his life in the community of Sproat Lake.
