John Sherwood Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jun. 18, 2016.

John F. Sherwood Sr. died peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family. John was born December 29, 1942 in Detroit, MI. to Eleanor and Raymond Sherwood. He attended Precious Blood Elementary and Visitation High School and graduated in 1960. He attended Michigan State University.
In 1964, John married the love of his life, Brigid. They were happily in love for 51 years. John frequently reminded Brigid she was the luckiest woman alive to have him as her husband.
John worked for 30 years at Chrysler's McGraw Glass Plant. After retiring, he and Brigid became owners of two GNC stores for 14 successful years. He enjoyed hunting, bowling, golfing and was a prolific reader. He will be remembered and missed for his wit, jokes and sarcasm.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Eleanor, sister, Norma Fernandez, brother Robert, and many cherished brothers-in-law.
John is survived by his beloved wife, Brigid, daughter Lynn Denney, sons John (Michael), Raymond (Lisa), grandchildren Grace, Milena, Aedan, Delaney, brother James, sister Pamela Schumaker (Mark), stepmother Betty Nummer, stepsisters Kathy Gair (Robert), Patty Proloux, Susie Faria, and stepbrother William Binder and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes Williamston chapel, 205 E. Middle St., on Sunday June 26, from 2-4pm and 6-8pm, with the rosary prayed at 7:30pm. So saddened by the news of John's death. Lynn had told me how ill he was lseveral months ago when she helped my daughter,Lisa in her new house. . Brigid and John have been friends of mine since Visitation and I knew John growing up at Precious Blood. His quick smile, silly sense of humor and love of family have always been endearing.
My sincere sympathy to Brigid and each of his loved ones. He and brother,Bob, will have tales to tell all who are in heaven before them! Hugs, Pat "Kelly" DeNoon_Bien

John is my best friend Lynn's Dad. He knew me most around our high school years. It is odd to feel so loved by and to love someone I really don't know that half about. He always called me "Watson" and had me believing he enjoyed my company. Love you Pops!
