John Dunsworth Troeger, August 5, 1937-August 19, 2014, was born to
Velma Dunsworth Troeger and John Henry Troeger at their home in
Richmond, Texas. He lived as a young child in El Campo, Texas and moved
with his family to Denton, Texas in 1947, graduating from Denton
Senior High School in 1955 and North Texas State University in 1962.
He served in the military during that time and returned to Denton to
pursue a lifelong professional career in the garment industry, beginning as a
college student at Russell-Newman Manufacturing Co. and ending his
career at Levi-Strauss in El Paso as the Director of Product Integrity.

This extraordinary man brought excitement, adventure and just plain
fun into all of the lives he touched. His language was colorful, his
passions were many, his love was unending and his temper was
legendary. John's zest for life embraced fine automobiles (new and antique), powerful boats, great card games, handmade cowboy boots, fishing
trips to the lakes, rivers and the Gulf coast, deer hunting in the hill country, dove hunting in the dessert, the lure of pheasants in cold climates and a wonderful cabin in Ruidoso, New Mexico where he enjoyed entertaining family and friends. He loved to dance and oh how he could!

John discovered his real treasure in life when he married
Martha Cary Wiley in Denton, Texas on June 13, 1964. John and Martha
recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with a glorious
trip that included a stay at the Broadmoor Hotel in Colorado
Springs, Colorado.

Their enduring marriage created the loving family that survives him,
his wife Martha, daughter Marty and husband Randy Harrison and
grandsons John and Worth Harrison, son John Taft Troeger and his wife
Suzanne and granddaughter Martha Troeger. Extended family includes John's sister
Julia Troeger Thompson, her daughters and their husbands Amy Thompson
and Steve Fector, Joanna and Bill Hartman, Delia and Tom Pergande, and his sister Betty Jo Troeger, her son Joseph John Clifford and wife Jennifer.
His sisters-in law families are Page and Hank Cooper, Rika and Don
Fikes. Along with numerous loving nieces and nephews.

If you were lucky enough to be John 's friend, you were a friend for life, through all of the joyous celebrations including his Denton High School classmates, his NTSU Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity brothers, his west Texas hunting buddies "The Shooters", his Levi associates, his neighbors and friends in every Texas town where he and Martha lived.

His ashes will be scattered in the great out of doors he loved so
much and that reveals God's presence through the ages to so many.
John's Celebration of Life is planned for family and friends in El
Paso at a later date, where his Troegerism's will live on!

You may visit the family on Sunday, August 24th, 2014 between 2:00pm – 4:00pm at Martin Funeral Home West.
