John Louis Weaver Sr. 82, passed peacefully the morning of July 30th 2016. John, loving husband and father, passed away early Saturday at his home after a month-long stay at Sharps hospital. He was very pleased get home where he was able to feel at ease.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years Bernice “Bea” and four sons; John, George (predeceased), Billie Joe (predeceased), and Bobby; one “daughter”, Julie; five grandchildren Sammie, Grant and Elizabeth, Johnny and Erin, and two... soon to be three... great granddaughters.
John was born August 3rd 1933 in Newton County Arkansas. He was raised by his mother Myrtle. He served in the US Army during the Korean War. He moved to Oregon where he meet his love, Bea, and married her in 1958. He worked at the Roseburg lumber yard till 1966 when he moved his young family; Bea, Johnny, George, and Billie Joe, to San Diego. There he worked for the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers 569 and San Diego Gas & Electric, retiring in 1995.
He would spend a couple months a year at his house in Myrtle Creek Oregon, enjoying his family and friends and "working on his “Oregon house” - which somehow every summer would need a little more work. We all know it was just an excuse to get up to Oregon and enjoy its quiet environment. Around our neighborhood in San Diego he could be seen out in the front yard just watching the people go by. He was always there for help, conversation, or to allow passing children a chance to sneak a peek at “Santa” resting between Christmases. He was a staunch environmentalist and recycling enthusiast.
He will be missed greatly by his family and friends.
