Johnnie H. "Hoot" Estes, 86, died Monday, June 30, 2014 at Norton Hospital in Louisville. He was born July 19, 1927 in Johnson City, IL to the late John and Minnie (Gibson) Estes. He is also preceded in death by his daughter, Cathy Carpenter. He was a US Navy veteran of WWII and a Mason. He retired from Naval Ordinance after a long career as a machinist and a supervisor. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, recently celebrating 70 years of marriage on June 11. Grandchildren: John Estes (Lexie), Scott Estes (Jennifer), Joanna Carpenter, Shauna Carpenter, Jessica Bransford (Todd), and Tracy Estes
Great-Grandchidren: Gabriel and Morgan Estes; Megan, Delaney, and Lorelai Bransford; and
Tyler, Taylor, and McKenzie Meadors


Visitation will be from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm Thursday at Kraft Funeral Service, 2776 Charlestown Road, New Albany, Indiana. His Funeral Service will be 12:00 pm Thursday at the funeral home chapel with entombment to follow at Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park in New Albany, Indiana.
