Dr. Joseph "Joe" D. Prince, of Harrison, passed away on Saturday, January 29, 2011. Joe was born November 20, 1940 in Barberton, Ohio to the late C. Eric and Nellie Ross Prince. Joe graduated from Rockmart High School, Rockmart, Georgia, Emory University at Oxford, Georgia, Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia and from The University of Tennessee College of Dentistry in Memphis, Tennessee. Dr. Joseph "Joe" D. Prince, of Harrison, passed away on Saturday, January 29, 2011.
Joe was born November 20, 1940 in Barberton, Ohio to the late C. Eric and Nellie Ross Prince. Joe graduated from Rockmart High School, Rockmart, Georgia, Emory University at Oxford, Georgia, Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia and from The University of Tennessee College of Dentistry in Memphis, Tennessee. Joe practiced general dentistry from 1965 until 2010. He served in offices of the Tennessee Dental Association and American Dental Association. Joe was a member and served in the Chattanooga Area Dental Society; Tennessee Dental Association; Vice President Tennessee Dental Association, East Grand Division, and the American Dental Association. He was a member of the Tennessee Valley Dental Study Group, Academy of Operative Dentistry. Fellow of the American and International College of Dentists. He was past President of the Tennessee State Board of Dental Examiners and member of the Southern Regional Testing Agency. Joe was a member of Hixson United Methodist Church where he served as Sunday school teacher and in the choir. He served our country during Vietnam as a Captain in the U. S. Army Dental Corps. Joe was a member of Brainerd Kiwanis, the Gideon's, Allied Arts Fund, Indian Guides (YMCA) and Methodist Church Costa Rica Dental Mission.
He is survived by his wife Reba C. Prince; children, Stacy Prince (Kenneth) Park and Michael D. (Leigh Ann) Prince; grandchildren, Eric Park and Parker Prince.
A Celebration service of the Life of Dr. Joe Prince will be held at 5 pm on Friday, February 4, at Hixson United Methodist Church, 5301 Hixson Pike, Hixson, TN 37343, with Rev. Randy Martin and Rev. Paul Longmire officiating. The family will receive friends after the service at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Dr. Joe's name to the Pipe Organ Fund at Hixson United Methodist Church, 5301 Old Hixson Pike, Hixson, TN 37343 or to the Hixson United Methodist Church.
Arrangements are by the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory and Florist.
