Joseph Bernard Lorino, age 86, of Vestavia Hills, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on September 12, 2017. Born July 15, 1931, in Ensley, Alabama, Joe was known by family and friends as "Sandy Bottom". After serving in the United States Army, he returned home to work in the family owned grocery store. Several years later he was employed by CVS Pharmacy where he retired. He is preceded in death by his parents, Ben and Frances Lorino, sister Lena Vizzinia and brother Pete Lorino. Joe is survived by his wife of 52 years, Marie Saia Lorino; daughters, Tina Kunze (Chris) and Lisa Anne Lorino; granddaughters, Megan Oswalt (Lane) and Elizabeth McNair; grandson, Brennan Kunze; great-grandson, Brooks Oswalt; sisters, Josie D'Aquilla and Marie Bianchi; many nieces and nephews. Visitation at St. Peter The Apostle Catholic Church, Saturday, September 16 from 9:00-10:00am. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00a.m. Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery. The family wishes to thank Amedysis Hospice for their wonderful care and support.
