Joseph William Apperson, 87, of Culpeper, VA passed away at Culpeper Regional Hospital, Wednesday, November 15, 2012. Mr. Apperson was born in Culpeper County to Robert S. Apperson and Nora Ballard Apperson February 24, 1925; was a fifth generation farmer, having received the Agri-business Award for 2011 in Culpeper County; was a dairy farmer with his late brother, Robert and currently operated a beef and sheep production and was a deacon in the Alum Spring Baptist Church. His farmer has the honor of a Century Farm, as it has been in his family since 1788.
Surviving Mr. Apperson is his wife Hilda I. Apperson of Culpeper, VA; his children, Joseph W. Apperson, Jr. and his wife Jill of Marshall, VA and George M. Apperson and his wife Patricia of Culpeper, VA; his sisters, Virginia Waldrop and Edith Brooks, both of Montpelier, VA and his grandchildren, Nicholas George Apperson of Culpeper, VA and Stephanie Christina Fanelli of Waldorf, MD. He is preceded in death by his parents and his brother Robert.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 17, 2012 at 1:00 P.m. in the chapel of Clore-English Funeral Home with Pastor Ron Young conducting the service. Interment will be in the Fairview Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from noon until service time. In lieu of flowers, contributions should be directed to the American Cancer Society.
