Joseph Barta Jr., 88, of Fort Wayne, passed away on September 24, 2015. Born on March 12, 1927, in New Kensington, Pennsylvania. He was a son of the late Joseph and Elizabeth Barta. He proudly served his country in the US Navy. Joe was an electrical engineer and held an MBA from St. Frances College. He retired from a career with Indiana and Michigan Electric Company and the American Electric Power System in 1990.
Joseph is survived by his children, Brent (Tracy) Barta, David (Lisa) Barta and Carol (Andy) Wene; brother, Jesse Barta; as well as seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild on the way. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Geraldine "Gerry" Barta; and sister, Margaret.
Private family services were held. Burial is in Concordia Cemetery Gardens, Fort Wayne. Memorial donations may be given to the American Diabetes Association: www.stopdiabetes.com
