LAKEWOOD – Joseph Carruba died Sunday, October 6, 2013 at St. Barnabas Medical Center, Livingston. He was 79. Born in Brooklyn, he resided in South Ozone Park, Queens for 40 years before finally settling in Lakewood. Surviving is his loving wife of 53 years, Filomena; 2 daughters: Marianne Kopelman and her husband Ralph of Hackettstown, NJ, and Donna Defferding and her husband Preston of Plano, TX; and 4 grandchildren: Marissa Kopelman, David Kopelman, Preston Defferding and Erica Defferding. LAKEWOOD – Joseph Carruba died Sunday, October 6, 2013 at St. Barnabas Medical Center, Livingston. He was 79.

Born in Brooklyn, he resided in South Ozone Park, Queens for 40 years before finally settling in Lakewood.

Surviving is his loving wife of 53 years, Filomena; 2 daughters: Marianne Kopelman and her husband Ralph of Hackettstown, NJ, and Donna Defferding and her husband Preston of Plano, TX; and 4 grandchildren: Marissa Kopelman, David Kopelman, Preston Defferding and Erica Defferding.

An accountant by trade, Joseph was employed as an auditor for the IRS. He was also a member of the St. John's University Alumni Association, having graduated with his Bachelor's Degree in 1962. An army veteran, he was stationed in Korea, having served from 1955-1957. He enjoyed baseball, taking pictures and videos, travelling, reading, and most of all, spending time with his family.

Friends may call at D'Elia Funeral Home on Wednesday from 2-4 & 7-9PM.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 10:30AM at Holy Family RC Church, Lakewood. Entombment will immediately follow at St. Mary of the Lake Cemetery, Lakewood.
