Joseph A. Guillemette, "Al," age 92, of Fall River, passed away Saturday, May 24, 2014 in Charlton Memorial Hospital. He was the husband of Theresa C. (Bellefeuille) Guillemette to whom he has been married for the past 68 years. Born in Westport, a son of the late Joseph G. and Maria (Goupil) Guillemette, he had been a lifelong resident of Fall River. A Veteran of the Unites States Army he served during World War II as a Sergeant from 1942 to 1945, he served in the United States Navy has a Seaman from 1947 to 1949, and in the National Guard until 1953. Joseph A. Guillemette, "Al," age 92, of Fall River, passed away Saturday, May 24, 2014 in Charlton Memorial Hospital. He was the husband of Theresa C. (Bellefeuille) Guillemette to whom he has been married for the past 68 years.

Born in Westport, a son of the late Joseph G. and Maria (Goupil) Guillemette, he had been a lifelong resident of Fall River.

A Veteran of the Unites States Army he served during World War II as a Sergeant from 1942 to 1945, he served in the United States Navy has a Seaman from 1947 to 1949, and in the National Guard until 1953.

A General Foreman, he worked for the Department of Public Works in Fall River for 28 years before retiring in 1983 and prior to that he worked as an operator at Kerr Thread.

A communicant of the former Notre Dame Church, now St. Bernadette's Church, he was a member of their Holy Name Society and was active with Boy Scout Troop #15. He was a 3rd Degree member of the Knights of Columbus Council #12380, Fall River, the V.F.W. in Fall River, and past Vice President and Treasurer of the East End Sportsman Club in Fall River. Mr. Guillemette enjoyed fishing, hunting, and woodworking.

In addition to his wife he is survived by one son: Alfred H. "Fred" Guillemette and his wife Mary of Lincoln, RI, daughter-in-law: Priscilla Guillemette of New Bedford, three grandchildren: Melissa Cliff, Amy Cavanaugh, and Matthew Guillemette, and six great-grandchildren: Emma and Liam Cavanaugh, Owen and Andrew Brown, Delany Chouinard, and Chevy Guillemette. He was father of the late Ronald A. Guillemette.

His Funeral will be held on Wednesday, May 28, 2014 at 8:00AM from the WARING-SULLIVAN HOME OF MEMORIAL TRIBUTE at CHERRY PLACE, 178 Winter St., Fall River, followed by a Funeral Mass at 9:00AM in St. Bernadette's Church, 529 Eastern Ave., Fall River. Relatives and friends invited. Visiting hours Tuesday from 4:00 to 7:00PM. Contributions in his honor may be made to the Grace Episcopal Church Food Pantry, 133 School St., New Bedford, MA 02740. Burial in Notre Dame Cemetery, Fall River.
