Kerley, Joseph Eddie, age 88.5, passed away April 26, 2013 at the University of Tennessee Medical Center, Knoxville, Tennessee. Joe was a lifelong resident of South Knoxville except for the period of time of his military service during World War II. He retired from TVA as General Auditor in the Office of Inspector General in November, 1990 after 37 years. He was a member of Greystone Presbyterian Church in South Knoxville. He was an avid gardener and enjoyed being outdoors and fishing. Kerley, Joseph Eddie, age 88.5, passed away April 26, 2013 at the University of Tennessee Medical Center, Knoxville, Tennessee. Joe was a lifelong resident of South Knoxville except for the period of time of his military service during World War II. He retired from TVA as General Auditor in the Office of Inspector General in November, 1990 after 37 years. He was a member of Greystone Presbyterian Church in South Knoxville. He was an avid gardener and enjoyed being outdoors and fishing. He was in the 71st Seabee Battalion in WWII serving during the battles of Guadalcanal, Bougainville, Admiralty Islands, Okinawa, and was preparing for the invasion of Japan when the war ended. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Marjorie N. Kerley; daughters Janet K. East and husband Bill, and Teri K. Rowles; three grandchildren, Ben J. East and Tonya, Shaun M. Rowles and Jennifer, and Kara (Jill) Remington and James; eight great-grandchildren: Oliver and Max East, Landon, Sophie, Hudson, and Audrey Rowles, and Penny and Archer Remington. He was preceded in death by his parents, W.W. Kerley, Sr. and Georgia Mae Clinton Kerley and brothers, Leon Kerley, W.W. (Bill) Kerley, Jr., and Charles A. Kerley. The family will receive friends on Monday, April 29, 2013 at Greystone Presbyterian Church from 6:30 PM until 8:00 PM with the funeral service to follow at 8:00 PM with Rev. Ann Brunger officiating. Family and friends will meet at Berry Funeral Home on Tuesday April 30, 2013 at 10:30 AM to go in procession to Woodlawn Cemetery for an 11:00 AM interment service. Memorials may be made to Greystone Presbyterian Church, 139 Woodlawn Pike, Knoxville, TN 37920. Arrangements by Berry Funeral Home, Chapman Highway.
