Obituary

Joseph Masella, of Geddes, passed away peacefully on Sunday November 20th with his wife by his side. A month short of reaching his 87th birthday. Formerly of Syracuse, Joseph attended Porter School, followed by Vocational High School and resided in Geddes since 1951. He was a US Navy Veteran of World War II stationed in England from 1943-45. He was employed by General Electric as an electrician for 38 years before retiring. He was a life member of the Stanley B Pennock VFW Post 2893, where he regularly was a volunteer on BINGO nights. He was also a member of the Local 320 IUE, the Geddes Seniors and a longtime communicant of Holy Family...
Joseph Masella, of Geddes, passed away peacefully on Sunday November 20th with his wife by his side. A month short of reaching his 87th birthday. Formerly of Syracuse, Joseph attended Porter School, followed by Vocational High School and resided in Geddes since 1951. He was a US Navy Veteran of World War II stationed in England from 1943-45. He was employed by General Electric as an electrician for 38 years before retiring. He was a life member of the Stanley B Pennock VFW Post 2893, where he regularly was a volunteer on BINGO nights. He was also a member of the Local 320 IUE, the Geddes Seniors and a longtime communicant of Holy Family Church. Joe enjoyed gardening, traveling and making various wood projects for his grandchildren. He was predeceased by his sisters Carmela Burke and Angie Masella.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, the former Giselda Astolfi, a daughter, JoAnne (Fernando) Primerano, of Syracuse, 2 sons, Michael (Karen) Masella, of Baldwinsville and David (Rosanne) Masella, of Rochester, 4 grandchildren, Danielle, Kelsey, Alyssa and Marco, 2 sisters, Eleanor Masella, of Solvay and Rosalind (Paul) Ragonese, of Camillus, a brother, Fred (Diana) Masella, of Solvay and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted at 8:15 am Saturday November 26th in BAGOZZI TWINS FUNERAL HOME, Solvay, and 9 am at Holy Family Church, Fairmount, where a Funeral Mass will be celebrated. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park, Warners. Calling hours are from 4 to 7 pm Friday November 25th at the funeral home, 2601 Milton Avenue.
