Joseph Naples Jr. (Pop-Pop) age 72, of Plainville, passed away on April 27, 2014, at The Hospital of Central Connecticut. He succumbed to injuries sustained in a fall at home on April 15. He was surrounded by his family and friends at the time of his death. Joe was born in New Britain on June 14, 1941 to the late Joseph (Buddy) Naples and Anna Warzocha. He attended New Britain High School. Joe had a long successful career in the grocery business with First National Stores, J & S Super Foods, Stop & Shop, and Waldbaum's Food Mart. He also enjoyed a second career, helping to build a family business of Dunkin' Donuts...
Joseph Naples Jr. (Pop-Pop) age 72, of Plainville, passed away on April 27, 2014, at The Hospital of Central Connecticut. He succumbed to injuries sustained in a fall at home on April 15. He was surrounded by his family and friends at the time of his death.
Joe was born in New Britain on June 14, 1941 to the late Joseph (Buddy) Naples and Anna Warzocha. He attended New Britain High School. Joe had a long successful career in the grocery business with First National Stores, J & S Super Foods, Stop & Shop, and Waldbaum's Food Mart. He also enjoyed a second career, helping to build a family business of Dunkin' Donuts franchises. He was a member of the U.S. Army National Guard Reserve for 6 yrs. Joe was a parishioner of the Church of Saint Matthew.
He loved working in his yard and was passionate about his lawn. Joe's true love was his family. He was married to his high school sweetheart Loretta Mae Bernabucci for 51 years. He absolutely adored his children and grandchildren. Joe and Loretta enjoyed traveling to Cape Cod, Maine, Pennsylvania, and especially down south to South Carolina and Georgia. Joe was especially happy to visit two of his favorite destinations, Graceland and Mount Airy, North Carolina, (Andy Griffith's Mayberry).
He is survived by his son, Joseph Naples III, and his wife Kathleen of Bristol, his daughter Susan Lancaster and her husband Dan of Plainville, a brother Donald Naples and his wife Kathy of Granby and a step sister Joan Keough and her husband Connie of Bristol, a brother-in-law Richard Bernabucci and his wife Rella of Colchester. He leaves 7 cherished grandchildren: Ryan, Timothy, and Rachel Lancaster, Joey (Joseph IV), Samantha, James, and Lauren Naples.
Calling hours are 4:00-8:00 pm Thursday May 1st at New Britain Memorial Donald D. Sagarino Funeral Home, 444 Farmington Ave, New Britain. Funeral services will begin 9:30 am on Friday May 2nd at the funeral home followed by Mass of Christian Burial at Church of St. Matthew in Forestville, CT at 11:00.
