Joseph A. St. Louis Retired Assistant Fire Chief OLD TOWN-At 5:45 pm, November 8, 2013, Joe's earthly journey ended and he went home to his Heavenly Father, surrounded by his wife and children. Joe was born July 16, 1930 in Old Town the son of Clement and Irene (Messier) St. Louis. Joe lived most of his life on French Island, only leaving three years ago following the sale of his family home. Joe graduated from Police Academy in 1961 and proudly served with his father on the Old Town Police Department. Joe's true calling came when he joined the Old Town Fire Dept, where he served for 25 years before retiring as assistant Fire Chief. ...

Retired Assistant Fire Chief
OLD TOWN-At 5:45 pm, November 8, 2013, Joe's earthly journey ended and he went home to his Heavenly Father, surrounded by his wife and children. Joe was born July 16, 1930 in Old Town the son of Clement and Irene (Messier) St. Louis.
Joe lived most of his life on French Island, only leaving three years ago following the sale of his family home. Joe graduated from Police Academy in 1961 and proudly served with his father on the Old Town Police Department. Joe's true calling came when he joined the Old Town Fire Dept, where he served for 25 years before retiring as assistant Fire Chief. His heart never left the fire department or those he worked with. He also worked part-time at cyr bus for 40 years, driving school bus. Joe loved the children and saw many over the years, he always being recognized for his railroad hat. Joe was kind hearted and generous man who loved to tease and was famous for his fudge. He married Aurora (Page) in 1949 and shared 37 happy years together, raising four children. Following the passing of Aurora in 1986, Joe fell in love again and married Patricia (Avery) and he became Dad to her five children whom he claimed as his own. Joe was a devout catholic and a communicant of Parish of the Resurrection, Holy Family Church, Old Town, as well as a life long member of the Knights of Columbus.
He is survived by his wife Pat St. Louis of Old Town; his children daughter Nancy St. Louis and Deb Brown of Pensacola, FL, son Roger St. Louis and his wife Cheryl of Hampden; daughter Rhonda Detour and husband Wendall of Stetson, and son Joseph C. St. Louis of Las Vegas, NV; Pat's children Michelle Butler of Old Town, Christine Karl of Veazie, Rita Butler of Brewer, Thomas Butler of Chesapeake, VA and Raymond Butler of Newburgh, IN; 17 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, whom he loved beyond words; brother Norman St. Louis of Bangor, sister Yvonne Spinks of Jacksonville, FL. He was predeceased by his first wife Aurora, his parents,daughter-in-Beverly St. Louis; two sisters Priscilla St. Peter and Cecile Pietrowski and a brother Ronald St. Louis
