Joseph "Joe" William Trowbridge, 75 years of age, of Cypress, Texas went to be with his Lord and Savior on July 23, 2014 at 10:15 am. Joe fought a courageous battle with cancer for 15 years and during his fight he inspired many. His granddaughter, Makenna, describes it best……today one of the best, strongest, most faithful, loving, funniest and kindest man I know got to walk through the golden gates of Heaven this morning, with his bible in his hand. He fought long and hard for his family and friends. He always took care of everyone around him and never let anyone see him in his weakness. He has taught us all so much. I couldn't have asked for a better Papa. He always knew what to say to make me feel better, even when he was at his worst. He made sure to tell me how much he loved me and how I was Papa's sweetie pie every time I was around. Words can't describe how blessed I was to have him as a grandfather and how blessed I now am to have him as a guardian angel. You enjoy the golden streets of heaven, the real eternal life, Papa. I will always love you, strive to make you proud and be papa's sweetie pie.

He was born in Snyder, CO on April 5, 1939 to the late Social & Corrine Trowbridge. He graduated from Kingston High in Kingston, AR in 1957. He continued his education at Arkansas Tech where he earned a Bachelor's degree in Education. He later received his Masters in Guidance and Counseling. While in college he met the love of his life, Paula and they were married on August 21, 1960. They had 3 children, Paul Wayne, Joe David and Susan O'Lea.

Joe joined the Army in February of 1963 and served our country for 28 years. While in the service, he was awarded the Meritorious Service Medal, Bronze Star Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Vietnam Service Medal w/ 1 Silver Service Star, Parachutist Badge, Combat Infantryman Badge, Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry with Palm and Armed Forces Honor Medal 1st Class.
After retiring from the Army and Civil Service, Joe and his wife traveled the United States in their 5th wheel making countless memories and a limitless amount of friends. They loved playing card games with their friends, and even for a time, would go to the Valley every year to square dance. It didn't matter where they went they either made new friends or ran into old friends. As Paula puts it….He was mine once he retired and they made the most of every moment they had.
