Josephine Yorio Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Oct. 10, 2012.

Josephine Yorio, 90, known by her loving family as Mom, Sister, Grandma, Great-Grandma Delicious and GG, passed away Saturday, Oct. 6, 2012, at a Fort Worth hospital.
Funeral: Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church in Keller. Interment: 2:15 p.m. Friday at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery. Visitation: The family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Shannon Rufe Snow Funeral Chapel in North Richland Hills.
Memorials: National Kidney Foundation or American Diabetes Association.
She was born Josephine Solanto in the Bronx, N.Y., on Dec. 14, 1921. She married Ralph Yorio on Oct. 10, 1940, and they had five children together. She retired from St. Barnabas Hospital after a longtime career in the accounting department and moved to North Richland Hills in 1984. Known to all simply as "Josie," she was an avid reader, loved to knit, loved scratch-off lotto tickets, she was the best baker ever and enjoyed playing bingo, but most importantly, she loved to dote on and spend time with her family and friends. She knew no stranger. Throughout her life, she taught us all by example to love each other and not to worry. In line with her Sicilian heritage, she was proud to be the head matriarch of the family.
She was preceded in death by the love of her life, Ralph Yorio.
Survivors: Her wonderful children, Jo "Sugar" Monaco and husband, Sal, Margaret "Missy" Magnani and husband, Joe, Jerry Yorio and wife, Jo-Jo, Ralph Yorio and wife, Lorraine, and Tom Yorio and wife, Elena; her pride and joy, her grandchildren, Richard Monaco, Michelle DiCola and husband, Jerry, Michael Magnani and wife, Annie, Dean Yorio and wife, Michelle, Lisa Murtagh and husband, Brendan, John Yorio and significant other, Blue Krawczyk, Jodi Finlayson, Chad Yorio and wife, Debbie, Jennifer Faunce and husband, Jeff, Thomas Magnani and partner, Chris Orsine, Dawn Talpawela and husband, Upali, and Jeff Yorio and wife, Andi; her Sunshine great-grandchildren, Dean Jr., Michael and Mark Yorio, Brendan Jr. and Rhiannon Murtagh, Jessica and Jamie Yorio, Jacob Faunce, Eli and Emerson Yorio, Chloe Finlayson, Kayne DiCola, Levi Yorio-Krawczyk and Max, Nick and Molly Ellsworth; sister, Dottie Giacoia; and numerous adopted grandchildren, "her people," and, as she proudly said, "a million and one friends."
